Season 1 Week 10 Welcome back to Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! I’m your Mon’ Capitan for this fun-filled hour, back for the bi-weekly episode recap where we see how our contestants fared this time around! We had a great show today with some fresh new faces in the studio, and intense moments! Tim: Players, welcome to the game, let’s get right down to it… here’s your first fastest finger question, good luck to all of you! Fastest Finger Put the following “Nala” lines from TLK in chronological order, starting with the earliest: A: “I’ve really missed you”
Correct Order: B D A C And it was Lucy who got those lines in there correctly. She was making her record-breaking 8th appearance in the Hot Seat, seems like she’s here every single week! Did she have her game face on today? Tim: Lucy, going for $8,000 now, still have your 50:50 and your phone-a-friend lifeline left: $8,000 A: Six thousand
C: Eight thousand Lucy Parker: I think it's C And that’s what Lucy left with today, she walked away from the next question about which of four songs was not nominated for the 1994 “Best Original Song” Award, and I believe made an error when I said it was “Hakuna Matata” but the correct answer was “I Just Can’t Wait to be King,” which didn’t matter because Lucy walked away with $8,000 either way, which isn’t too bad, and it put her in 3rd place on the All-time leaderboard with $99,000 over Sharifu’s $98,000, it’s pretty safe to say both she and Audra will cross the $100,000 mark on their next show! Congrats Lucy! The next fastest finger question was the following: Fastest Finger Put the following Kiara lines from TLK II: Simba’s Pride in the order she says them, starting at the beginning of the movie: A: “A wise king once told me, ‘We are One.’” Daniel: CDBA Although Kiara is Dan’s FAVORITE character in the whole wide world *sarcasm* he still knew enough about her to earn his way into the hot seat! He didn’t fare too well last time, and we jokingly pointed out that there’s no possible way he could have done as bad as he did last time (losing on the $500 question) because all contestants start at the $1,000 question, so it was all peachy for Dan right from the start! Here he is staring down the $16,000 question: $16,000 A: Baseball Daniel: sh*t A: 20% B: 0% C: 60% D: 20% Tim: Sixty percent for American Football, Baseball and
Golf are tied at 20% apiece. Unfortunately for Dan, a gutsy play on the $32,000 question cost him dearly… Tim: Dan, going for the big $32,000 now, it’s been quite a while since anyone’s gotten to this point, no more lifelines, but good luck to ya. $32,000 A: Best Animated Film and Best Original Song <Daniel thinks for 40 seconds> C: Best Original Score and Best Original Song Shoot, I think everyone wanted him to win there! But he’ll gladly take his $1,000 paycheck and we’ll see him again I’m sure in the coming shows, what a great contestant Dan is! We were moving swiftly along, no sense in wasting time, and the remaining players actually all missed the next question about Kovu’s lines in TLK II: Simba’s Pride, so we did a replacement: Put the following events in TLK II: Simba’s Pride in the order they occur, starting with the earliest: A: Simba has a nightmare
Correct Order: B, D, C, A And this time it was STM *just* squeaking by Nath with the correct order, making his fourth appearance on the show. This was clearly “old hat” for him as he breezed through the early part of the game and took a look at the $8,000 question: Tim: Here’s your $8,000 question, STM: $8,000 A: Tango-Charlie-Alpha
A: Tango-Charlie-Alpha simbathemighty: A STM then surprised everyone by appearing to have no idea on the $16,000 question about how many times Timon and Pumbaa burst into tears in TLK II, even using his final lifeline to call Lucy Lioness who also had no clue, and then after using his “Time Extension” and basically doing everything but pulling his hair out he finally decided… simbathemighty: I say 2 Unfortunately STM didn’t get a chance to use the new lifeline, the Double Dip, as he walked away from the $32,000 question about how many lionesses were resting in the shade under the tree in TLK after Simba learns about the Elephant Graveyard, and the answer was three. Given that we saved a little time by eliminating the first four questions from the sequence, there was enough time left to have a fourth contestant play the game today, and we had two newcomers, tlkproxy and Boos come into check out the game and they were able to try their hand at the final fastest finger question of the day: Fastest Finger During the pause in the film when Pumbaa goes to buy popcorn in TLK 1 ½, put the following things that Timon does in chronological order, starting with the earliest: A: Pick his nose Nathalie: bcad Correct order: B, C, A, D simbathemighty: go nath!!! Tim: Nathalie, you’ve done it! And you had your
answer locked in after only about three seconds, how’d you get
that so quick??? Nathalie was also making her fourth trip to the Hot Seat, and was looking to add on to her $13,000 in winnings and get out of last place on the leaderboard! Our own “Belgian Beauty” was storming through her questions, and all of a sudden had a real chance to redeem herself, looking at the $32,000 question with one lifeline left, her precious “Phone-a-friend”. Tim: Nath, this is the big one! If you answer this next question correctly, you’ll have guaranteed yourself $32,000 in cash, almost TRIPLED your overall winnings so far on the show, and gain access to the new lifeline, “Double Dip,” which enables you to select two of the four possible answers on any one question. A LOT riding on this question, are you ready? Audience are you ready??? <wild applause> boosy0r: GO NATH, YOU FREAKING ROOOCK YEAAAAAAAAH! Tim: Haha, you got some fans out there Nath! Best of
luck, we’re all pulling for you. $32,000 A: 5 Nathalie: I have no idea ... simbathemighty: I am pretty sure 6 Tim: Time’s up. Nathalie, he sounded pretty sure
of himself! Tim: Let’s see… 4 and 1 and 1 equals… SIX! YOU’VE JUST WON $32,000! <deafening applause, cheers> Fantastic job there by STM to help her out and also to Nathalie for trusting him, that is SO important in this lifeline to trust your phone-a-friend. That’s how it’s supposed to work, and we FINALLY have a $32,000 winner because of it, it’s been at least three shows since anyone’s won $32,000! Congratulations Nath, you earned it! <fog horn alarm> Tim: Oh no! That sound means that we’ve run out of time for today, Nathalie you will return on our next show Thursday the 17th of November going for $64,000 with the Double-Dip lifeline! Will Nathalie continue to climb the ladder and possibly reach the $1,000,000 question? Be sure not to miss the next show to find out how she does! Now I’d like to congratulate all the winners today: Lucy Parker: $8,000 <applause> And I’d also like to announce that starting next show, due to a number of requests from Lea members interested in playing the game, I will split the show into two 45-minute segments, at 1:00 (the normal time) and another at 4:00 to accommodate those that are in school during the first game. So the games will be at 1:00 Pacific standard time (4 ET and 9 GMT) and also 4:00 Pacific Standard (7 ET and Midnight GMT). If you’d like to make both of the games you’re welcome to do so, or one or the other, but this way hopefully everyone can make at least one of the games. Thanks to everyone that came and played today, it was a real treat. From the Pride Land Studios in Cyberspace, this is your host Tim Watanabe saying so-long from Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! Goodnight! simbathemighty: thanks for being our host Tim: Thanks for the compliments everyone! Glad you’re enjoying yourselves.
