Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly report of the goings-on here at Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands. We had another incredible show this week, and I’m pleased to announce that a record has been broken. STL set an all-time record by winning the highest amount EVER paid out this afternoon! <roaring applause> How’d he do it and how much did he win? Let’s replay the action! STL then answered a very difficult question about the host of the TLK video program “The Making of a Masterpiece” with the help of our trusty friend Sharifu, who steered him in the right direction by suggesting Robert Guillame. So here’s the scenario: STL has no lifelines left, and also used his Time extension, and he’s going for $250,000, only 3 away from the million! Tim: Chris, I just need to remind you that if you answer this question incorrectly, you lose $218,000 and drop to $32,000, but you can always walk away with $125,000 ok? I’m so sorry Chris… Tim: Chris my man, you are only TWO, count’em, TWO questions away from the grand prize. Let’s take a look at your $500,000 question… Sharifu: Good Luck Chris!
A: 3 STL: no idea, take the money And that was that! For those at home wondering, the answer was A: 3. But that completed one the most amazing run anyone’s ever had on the show so far, hat’s off to Chris as he vaults himself into the lead in the overall standings in his first trip in the hot seat! Ready to top that act, Sharifu was the second player of the day in the hot seat, because being the film buff that she is, she knew the release dates of the four Disney films HOND, TLK, Tarzan and TLK II: Simba’s Pride. Sharifu ran into a rather difficult $500 question early on, and I got quite flamed for it… I need to say that luck does play a pretty significant role in this game. Before the show, the staff of expert question-writers at WWTBKOTPL sorts questions out by level of difficulty, and while generally they get tougher as the dollar values get higher, there will always be exceptions, and what may be easy to one person may be difficult to another, you one can only imagine how difficult it is to write questions for a show like this. To back me up, 5 out of the 6 audience members answered it right on the lifeline, so it wasn’t impossibly hard for a $500. But I digress, bottom line is that she got through it with the help of our fantastic audience, and had soon had a look at the $4,000 question: Tim: All right Audra, going for $4,000 now, and still two lifelines left. You’re playing really well now, let’s take a look: $4,000 A: Grub-gulping Audra: Oh geez A: Grub-gulping Tim: There you are, 20 more seconds to decide! Unfortunately, Audra ran into trouble on the $8,000 question: $8,000 She chose to take a chance and guess instead of using her last lifeline and chose C. Kovu does indeed say “We are One” when he is relaxing by the pool with Kiara after the “Love Will Find a Way” scene and he notices their reflections blend. So Audra walked out with a cool $1,000 to add to her already impressive $64,000 in winnings, which put her in 2nd place all by herself with $65,000! Congrats ‘Fu! That left us time for ONE more contestant… and nobody was able to put the Animals from the “We Are One” scene in TLK II in the right order of “Bird, Wildebeest, Hippopotamus, Fish” so we did a replacement FF question: Put the following characters from TLK in the order they appear in the film, starting with the earliest: A: Scar Lucy: CABD Ohhh so close! Lucy edged out Sombolia by about half a second there, and was the next contestant. Lucy got on a roll until she got temporarily tripped up on the $4,000 question, which surprised me because it was about TLKOB, which she has seen… let’s see how it turned out! $4,000 A: The Grasslands Chant Lucy: Darn Fu not being here, hehe STL: Fu is a guru lol C: The Lioness Hunt Tim: There you are, 20 seconds Lucy! A: 0% B: 16% C: 68% D: 16% STL: rofl someone voted for B $32,000 A: Cheech Marin Lucy: A. Cheech Marin. And with that Lucy secured another $32,000 in the bank, but unfortunately missed the next question about Moira Kelly’s TV drama role as Karen Roe. She played in the West Wing, but played Karen Roe on the WB’s “One Tree Hill”. And that was the day! Congratulations again to our winners, especially STL who took home $250,000! Great job today, it was a very nice turnout once again and we were all glad to see Sombolia who finally made it :D and was only about ½ a second away from playing in the Hot Seat.
