Season 1 Week 6 Welcome back to the weekly recap of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! After a couple weeks off it’s great to be back and hosting the show. We had another great one today, with some exciting moments and a new player making her first appearance in the hot seat! Let’s cut to the day’s action: The first fastest finger was answered correctly by… No one! So here was the replacement FF question, that seemed to test our player’s geography skills: For reference: The following Yahoo! IM names translate to the following Lea members: Dinosaurgirl85: Sharifu Fastest Finger Put the following cities that have hosted TLKOB in geographic order according to latitude, going from north to south: A: Sydney dinosaurgirl85: DCBA The correct order was London (B), New York (C), L.A. (D) and finally way down under was Sydney (A) and so it was STM, who said he wasn’t even intending to play today, who got it right! STM got off to a rough start, needing to use a lifeline on the $500 question (on which his trusty friend Sharifu provided him with the right answer) and had to use another on the $2,000 question, let’s see how it turned out: $2,000 A: Red simbathemighty: I must ask the audience I haven't seen it forever Tim: Allright audience, STM needs your help here, please
PM me your vote now! A: 33% B: 17% C: 0% D: 50% Hmm, not a clear majority here, 50% for D takes the cake. STM, 20 more seconds to decide. simbathemighty: I go for D So with two grand in the bank STM was cruising right along until the $16,000, on which he used his last lifeline, the 50:50, and he fortunately was able to deduce that “Shorty” was not one of the meerkats that Ma roll-called in TLK 1 ½! STM was out of lifelines and had his work cut out for him as he was sent to work on a challenging $32,000 question, watch what happens! Tim: STM, this is the really important one coming up,
you’re going for $32,000 and are guaranteed that much if you
answer correctly, if you get it wrong you lose $15,000 and drop back
down to $1,000, and of course you can walk away with $16,000. Got
it? $32,000 A: Cheech Marin simbathemighty: umm STM just kept right on rolling, and with that correct answer he also earned another lifeline, the “Double Dip” that gives you two guesses on the question of your choice. And the DD was just the thing he needed on a very tough $125,000 question: Tim: You just steamrolled over the $64,000 question,
and all of a sudden you’re going for $125,000 with your double
dip lifeline still in your possession! $125,000 A: Shadowland simbathemighty: I have no idea... What was a great run at the game very unfortunately ended on the next question when STM decided to gamble on a hunch, incorrectly stating that Rowan Atkinson (Zazu) was NOT in the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” The correct answer was D: Hot Shots! As he was in the sequel, Hot Shots II, but not in the original. But it was just absolutely incredible how STM used two lifelines early on and then rallied to reach the $250,000 level. That itself was probably the greatest comeback in the show’s history so far. <applause> The next fastest finger round saw Nathalie overcome the nerves and become our next player! Tim: Ok players, if you’re ready, here’s the next Fastest finger! Good luck to all: Put the following lines from Scar’s “Be Prepared” in the order they appear in the song, starting with the earliest: A: “Be prepared for sensational news” Moorhunhe: CADB Nathalie very quickly got it right! She too had to use a couple lifelines early on, and finally got a peek at the $2,000 question. $2,000 A: Nala moorhunhe: is that even a name? Nathalie soon found herself staring down the $8,000 with one lifeline left, her 50:50. Tim: Ok Nath going for 8 thousand now, and you still got one lifeline left the 50:50 to help you out. $8,000 A. Best Male Vocal Performance moorhunhe: man, I'm so not up to date on that, I'll
just take the 50/50 line B. Best Costume Design moorhunhe: so if I got this wrong, got nothing? B. Best Costume Design Tim: Oh darn! Well done anyways, Nath! So that left us time for one more contestant. Moving right along to the 3rd FF question of the day: Fastest Finger Put the following TLKOB props in the order they appear in the production, starting with the earliest: A: Mufasa’s ghost mask dinosaurgirl85: CDBA The correct order was D, C, B, A! And in total shock, Dan won! He not only hasn’t seen TLKOB before unlike Sharifu and Lucy, but he claimed to be guessing! tim646man: have you even seen TLKOB Dan? My man Daniel was playing really well, and at the same time doing his own active commentary! Here’s an example on his $2,000 question: $2,000 A: Strong Daniel: Well, she wouldn’t be ANY of those so
I have no bloody idea as to why she would even mention those words…
<laughter> But Dan ran into a little bit of trouble on the $8,000
question! A: Crawly ddongsbury: erm.... poll the herd A: 0% B: 71% C: 0% D: 29% Tim: A pretty clear majority, most say “Slimy!” <LOCK IN “B”> Tim: Oh no Dan! I’m sorry to say you’re incorrect, I’m very sorry. The right answer was D: Winged. So that was that! Only on very rare occasion does the audience steer the player in the wrong way, and unfortunately for Dan that’s what happened here. I’d like to now congratulate all of our winners today: STM: $32,000 And the show will be the same time next week, that will be our last Monday show before it will be moved to Saturday afternoons starting October 8th. We also saw another new player today, Darkslash, who made a brief stop by but had to leave for a dentist appointment, hopefully he’ll be around next week so we can get some more fresh new faces to brighten up our panel! From the ‘net studios of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands, this is your host Tim Watanabe signing off and wishing you and yours happiness and prosperity. Good night! WWTBKOTPL Official Leaderboard and statistics (through 7 shows, number in ( )’s denotes appearances in the hot seat) 1st: STL $250,000 (1)
