Who Wants To be King Of The Pridelands

Season 2

Week 2

Hello and welcome to the weekly recap of today’s Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands show! If you thought the Premiere was exciting… hold on to your hats because we’re about to go on one wild ride! We had some incredibly tense and exciting moments today, so let’s get started and see who was up first in the Hot Seat: Roll the tape!

Fastest Finger

In TLKOB, put the following acting roles for Ensemble members in the order they are performed, starting with the earliest in the show:

A: Wildebeests
B: Hyenas
C: Grassland Dancers
D: Aerial Ballet Dancers

Audra: cdad
This Land Neale: cadb
simbathemighty: cbda
<buzz>

Time’s up! Let’s see the answer in the correct order:

Correct Order: C, B, A, D

Oh boy, looks like nobody got it right! Everyone was so close, and Audra with a typo there… We’ll have to do a replacement.

Put the following lines from the song “I Just Can’t wait to be King” in the order they are sung in TLK, starting with the earliest:

A: “I’m working on my roar”
B: “Let’s hear it in the heard and on the wing”
C: “This child is getting wildly out of wing”
D: “I’m gonna be a mighty king”

This Land Neale: davc
Audra: avcd
simbathemighty: dabc
Lucy Parker: dabc
Audra: UGH
Audra: lol
This Land Neale: dabc
Dani: dacb
Audra: I keep making typos
<buzz>

Okay, let’s see if anyone got it right this time!

Correct Order: D, A, C, B

Dani: omg

And yes, JUST in the nick of time getting in there was Dani (Tiikeri) once again with the only correct answer! Great job Dani!

Dani did it again, last week at the Premiere he was the first contestant in the Hot Seat, and duplicated the feat this week, looking to add to the $32,000 he already had. Dani did very well until he had a little trouble with the $32,000 question but makes an incredibly gutsy move… and an embarrassing error added to the confusion - watch this!

Tim: Dani, you’re doing really well once again, if you get this right, you’re guaranteed to at least double your winnings from last week, but if you’re wrong you drop back down to $1,000. Good luck, here it is for $32,000! <cue question intro music>

$32,000
In TLKOB, actor Max Casella originated the role of what character?

A: Zazu
B: Pumbaa
C: Banzai
D: Timon

<pause> Daniel Narnia: um, can i poll the herd XD
Tim: Yes you may, herd, Dani needs some assistance to reach the $32,000 level, please vote A B C or D now!
Dani: help me

A: 16.7% B: 41.6% C: 41.6% D: 0%

There they are Dani, hope it helps. 16% for Zazu, and tied at the top are Pumbaa and Banzai with 42% each.

Dani: damn, i was thinking it was timon
Tim: Well, Timon got no votes at all, but there doesn’t appear to be a majority either way…
Dani: i was pretty sure too, and nobody was confident in that poll so i'm gonna stick with my instinct i think. i'm gonna go D
Tim: Wow, he’s going totally off the charts with the answer that got NO votes? Are your sure?
Dani: i'm still gonna go D no point phoning a friend coz nobody knows
Tim: Final answer?
Dani: yeah
<lock in D, long pause>
Tim: He says Timon… Oh no I’m sorry that’s not right! <wrong answer decrescendo>

twilightlks: !!
Dani: aw damn
simbathemighty: down you go!

<pause>

Tim: Wait… no… hold on a minute, the producer made an error, your answer D: Timon is RIGHT for $32,000! <wild applause>
Tim: We’re going to take a commercial break while I get my wits about me, which I obviously don’t have right now! When we come back Dani will be going for $64,000 and that’s no joke! <cut to commercial>
twilightlks: time for the adverts ^^!!

I apologize once again for the error, we all know that doesn’t happen very often ;) but Max did originate Timon back in Minneapolis for the show’s premiere and also played the role on Broadway for a couple seasons.

Dani wasn’t nearly through yet, though! He pounced all over my $64,000 question about Cam Clarke being the singing voice for Simba in Simba’s Pride and returning to voice Simba in Kingdom Hearts II, and soon he was only FOUR away from the big jackpot!

$125,000
In “Be Prepared” from TLK, what does Scar’s latin line “Quid pro quo” directly translate to in English?

A: “Mark my words”
B: “Per my request”
C: “In my honor”
D: “This for that”

Dani: i've got a good idea, can i double dip?
Tim: Yes you can, you do know that you can use the Phone-A-Friend first? Or you can save it for a later question if you feel you don’t need it.
Dani: yeah i'll save that for later, so do i just choose 2 answers now?
Tim: All right, he’s using the Double Dip! No, just one at a time and I’ll reveal if you’re right, and you can’t elect to walk away after choosing the first one.
Dani: ok well my first guess is A
Tim: You say “Quid Pro Quo” means “Mark my words” as your first guess, Final?
Dani: yeah
<lock-in A>
Tim: He says it’s A for $125,000… <wrong answer decrescendo>
No! Sorry Dani, but that’s all right, one more guess. It all hinges on this one, if you’re right you’ll be going for a quarter million, but if you’re wrong you’ll drop back down to $32,000.
Daniel Narnia: um, i'll go for B
Tim: “Per my Request” for $125,000… <lock in B> <long pause, close up of Dani>
<wrong answer decrescendo>
I’m so sorry, that’s wrong also. Let’s see the correct answer:

D: “This for that”

Well, he gave it another nice run, took a chance, and he walks away with another $32,000. Let’s give a nice round of applause to Dani! <applause>

Let’s move right along to the next Fastest Finger, we still had five players ready and raring to go for that $1,000,000 check and prizes with their name on it!

Fastest Finger:

In TLK, put the following lines from an early version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in order, starting with the earliest in the song: <cue fastest finger think music>

A: “Never trust the future”
B: “If you live in the shining moment”
C: “The moment may just last”
D: “Never miss the past”

simbathemighty: cadb
Lucy Parker: bcda total guess, lol
This Land Neale: adbc
Audra: bdbc

Correct Order: A, D, B, C

And this time it was This Land that got it right, making his first ever appearance in the Hot Seat! Way to go! <applause>

simbathemighty: thisland.................. mind the seat.. it's HOT!
Tim: Yep, Dani warmed the seat up for you, let’s play Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands with This Land!

This Land showed off his TLK smarts by flying through the first four questions without needing a lifeline, but got a little caught up in a tough $16,000 question, let’s take a look at his unfortunate demise:
$16,000
In TLK II: Simba’s Pride, which of the following happens after Simba’s nightmare?

A: Zira swats off the tree trunk
B: Kovu offers to teach Kiara
C: “Upendi” scene
D: Zazu calls Kovu a “Riffraff”

<long pause>
Tim: May I remind you This Land that you have all three of your lifelines at your disposal…
This Land Neale: b
Tim: Oh he’s going for it! B, “Kovu offers to teach Kiara,” pretty confident in that?
This Land Neale: yes
Tim: Confident enough to make it your Final Answer?
This Land Neale: yes
<lock-in B> He threw his lifelines back into the basket and went for B… <wrong answer decrescendo, audience awws> Nope, B was not right! That was a tough question… the correct answer is C, “Upendi scene,” sorry This Land! It seems like the Upendi scene is put in the movie out of nowhere, definitely out of order.
Daniel Narnia: unlucky lad

Tim: But This Land is leaving with a virtual check for $1,000, which is better than nothing! Good job This Land, been great having you on the show.

We have enough time for ONE more contestant, let’s go fishing and see who we can get on the line with the $1,000,000 bait I have here in my hand…

<cut>

Well, let’s just say that we had some problems getting another player, we had to do THREE fastest finger questions before we finally got a correct response, and I found out that our players need to re-watch Mufasa’s Ghost scene from TLK and the part where Shenzi Hyena’s names are read off in Lion King 1 ½. Anyway, I had GREAT confidence that someone was going to get this one right!

Tim: Okay guys, if no one gets this one right, I guess I’ll have to sit in the Hot Seat this game!

Fastest Finger replacement #3

Put the following adjectives that the hyenas in TLK use to describe lions, starting with the first:

A: Pushy
B: Hairy
C: Stinky
D: Ugly

Audra: abcd (time 4.7 seconds)
simbathemighty: cdba
Lucy Parker: dabc
Lucy Parker: lol
This Land Neale: abcd
<buzz>

Tim: And I hope to God someone got this one right… and the correct order is, right down the line A B C D and Yes! AUDRA! Thank you for saving the game and you did it in record time I might add, you’ll be our next player. <applause and cheers for Sharifu>

Audra made a ton of appearance last season and played very well, earning about $100,000 in total, and she definitely looked to better her showing from last week, where she busted out early, winning only $1,000, and she definitely did that and more! Here she is in action:

Tim: Audra, $16,000 in the bank, and if you get this next question right without using any lifelines, you’ll be the first person this season to get to the $32,000 level with all of their lifelines still intact, but of course if you need to use one please do so. You’re doing so well, here you go for $32,000! <cheering and applause> The crowd’s behind you Audra good luck!!!

$32,000
In TLK, what is the last word that Simba says before he gets hit with Rafiki’s stick?

A: “Past”
B: “Back”
C: “Long”
D: “Easy”
<pause>
Tim: She’s running that scene through her head right now… 15 more seconds Audra to decide. You have your lifelines…
Audra: c
Tim: She’s going for it, C, “Long,” confident?
Audra: Yes
Tim: For $32,000, final answer???
Audra: yes
<lock in C, silence, camera zooms in on Audra’s face>
She seemed very sure of herself… if she’s wrong she drops back down to $1,000… but this time she is RIGHT FOR $32,000!!! <wild applause, cue $32,000 win music>

That’s awesome Audra, you now have FOUR lifelines and are the first person this season to get to where you are without any additional help, well done Fu’ey!

Audra used her lifelines very intelligently on the $64,000 question, using the 50:50 and then the Double Dip to assure herself of the win, and went on to the $125,000 question with 2 lifelines left and was poised for a HUGE payday, I’ll just roll the footage and let you watch the excitement for yourself:

<audience is going nuts>

Tim: Audra, great use of your lifelines there, and now you’re going for $125,000, only four away from the million! Let’s play! <cue think music>

$125,000
Disney artist Tony Fucile was the supervising animator for which major character in TLK?

A: Adult Simba
B: Timon
C: Mufasa
D: Rafiki

Tim: Tony Fucile… name ring a bell?
Audra: Yes
Audra: C
Tim: Wow, she’s going for it! She’s into 2d animation so she might have caught a break on this question I think…
Audra: Yeah I think C
Tim: If you happen to be incorrect Audra, you lose $32,000 and drop back to $32,000, is Mufasa your FINAL ANSWER?
Audra: Yeah
<lock-in C, drumroll>
Tim: Tony Fucile animated a lot of great Disney characters… and Mufasa… WAS one of them! You just won $125,000!!! <thundering applause and cheering> Great work!

Lucy Parker: yay!!
twilightlks: w00t
Audra: yay
Audra: Thank you
Tim: Wow Audra, where did you learn that? On the DVD or did maybe when you went to Disney animation studios?
Audra: I remember on the sketches in the DVD set
Audra: That a guy named Tony signed the Mufasa pic
Tim: Ah yes, I just saw that the other day as a matter of fact, what an incredible memory you have, certainly helps on this show. Well my buddy, you’re entering uncharted waters now. This is the first crack at a $250,000 question this season and you still have two lifelines left as you know, the Phone-A-Friend as well as the Poll the Herd. Let’s see it for a Quarter Million! <audience is going nuts, cue think music>

$250,000
In TLK 1 ½, what famous piece of music plays when Timon and Pumbaa are juggling plates and dishes in an effort to stall the hyenas?

A: “Can-Can”
B: “Sabre Dance”
C: “Hungarian Rhapsody”
D: “Turkish March”

Audra: I think I know... hmm
Tim: Omigosh, she thinks she knows it
Audra: But I don't know if I should risk it
Tim: Well you have to remember that the $500,000 and $1,000,000 will NOT be pushovers, but the question is… how sure are you?
Audra: A
Audra: I'll just do it
Tim: She wants to go for it and save her lifelines… are you sure you want to do this???
Audra: Well
Tim: You do lose $93,000 if you’re wrong, but if you’re right you’ll be only 2 away with 2 lifelines left… my oh my. So A “Can-Can”?
Audra: Yeah I guess
Tim: Okay, Fu, we all want you to win this, is that your final answer?
Audra: Yeah
<lock-in A, long drumroll>
Tim: For a quarter-million she’s betting on the “Can-Can”…….. <cut>

Sorry for the suspense but we need to take a break and we’ll be back with the exciting ending right after this!

<conclusion on next post>

Welcome back, let’s go back to Audra’s tense $250,000 moment! <cut to Audra>

Tim: Oh no.... I’m so sorry to say that’s the wrong answer… oh man!
Audra: Aww XP
twilightlks: i think its D
Daniel Narnia: awww, well A would've been my guess too
Lucy Parker: i thought b
Tim: Let’s take a look at the correct answer:

B: “Sabre Dance”

Audra: Yeah it must be in that scene though

Tim: Yes, that one was tough because the Can-Can is earlier at another place in that scene, but wasn’t playing when they were juggling plates and dishes. Well darn Audra I thought you were going get to the top that time, but at least you won $32,000! Congratulations on a really fun and exciting game!

Audra: It's ok, I had fun
Tim: That’s what we like to hear. How about a huge round of applause for Audra for getting to the $250,000 question! <roaring applause as she steps out of the Hot Seat>

<fog horn siren>

That’s definitely all the time we have for today! Congrats to all our winners today,

Sharifu (Audra): $32,000
Tiikeri (Dani): $32,000
This Land: $1,000
