Season 2 Week 4 Thank you! And welcome back to the ‘net Studios of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands. It’s once again time to relive some of the most exciting moments from this week’s show, and today’s contestants certainly did not disappoint! First off, we started with our first “cliffhanger” contestant from last week, Audra, who had just won $32,000 when time ran out and was going for $64,000 with 2 lifelines, her Phone-A-Friend and Double Dip. Let’s see how her game ended up! $64,000 A: Once So Audra you have sort of a “free guess” here, as you can do no worse that $32,000, but if you’re not sure you do have your lifelines… Audra: Hmm Going with B, “twice?” Pretty confident about that one? Audra: Yeah I think so... I'll do it For $64,000, final answer? Audra: Yeah <lock-in B, hush falls over audience… drumroll> She thinks Simba did it twice… oh darn it! That’s wrong Audra, I’m very sorry. Let’s take a look at the correct answer: <C: Three times> Yes, the three instances were: When he wakes Mufasa up at the beginning of the film, during the “Under the Stars” scene, and finally after Mufasa dies during the stampede. In my opinion a very fair but challenging $64,000 question, and unfortunately it got the best of Audra, but she padded her winnings quite nicely we all know she’ll be back in the hot seat VERY soon. But we have six contestants that have joined our game today from all over the world, and they are: Andy Boardman, Cheshire, England <applause> (For this show and from now on, we started doing contestant intros here at WWTBKOTPL so everyone knows where people are playing from) We had a nice crowd on hand, not quite as nice as last week but they were all anxiously waiting for a chance to play so we went right into our next fastest finger: Fastest Finger – Game 1 9/10/06 Put the following events that occur in TLK in chronological order, starting with the earliest: A: Mufasa dies
Correct Order: D, A, C, B Wow, only two players were able to get their answers in by the allotted time, and fortunately Dani was first and also got it right! Dan the Man (of WWTBKOTPL so far!) continued his dominance, earning $189,000 so far and was looking to add to his already impressive winnings… could Dan win big yet again? Watch and find out! <cut to game footage> For $16,000, here it is: $16,000 A: Green Dan: what's a lei? xD A “lei” is a Hawaiian flower necklace… that’s about all I can say! Dan: oh god, no idea, can i poll the herd? Sure thing. Herd, put on your thinking caps and tell me what color Timon’s lei was using your keyboards A, B, C or D! A: 0% B: 56% C: 14% D: 28% So it looks like most of the audience chose “red,” with orange and purple also receiving votes. Purple was second with 28%. Dan: I know it's not red so i dunno why that got most votes xP i thought it was purple myself Wow, Dan says he knows it’s not red! He’s doubting the audience? Dan: the flower is red, so i'll go D Dani is going off the charts and saying the answer is “D” which only 28% of the audience chose. Is that your final answer??? Dan: um, yeah <lock-in D, audience gasps> I don’t know if we’ve ever had a contestant turn down the audience majority ever before… WOW! Dani you did the right thing, you’ve just won $16,000! <thunderous applause, cheers> Lucy Parker: yay! http://www.geekculture.dk/bedler/auto/1068849384hula.jpg That was just awesome, Dani seems to be making all the right decisions in the games he’s playing, and that’s making the difference. He cruised through the $32,000 question after correctly identifying “Counsel” as the thing Simba was seeking in TLK II: Simba’s Pride, and here he is going for $64,000: $64,000 A: Michael Ward Dan: bugger xP um, i'll phone a friend Okay Dan, who would you like to call for help? Dan: well sorry to call on her after that face but audra Audra, ready? Audra: Yeah I guess 30 seconds to chat with Dani about the answer to this question, starting now! <cue tick-tock sound effect> Audra: I really don't know... XD Ohh, sorry Dani, not much help there, but she did eliminate B, “Michael Curry” and thought it might be D… Dan: can i use my double dip yet? You sure can, and I was about to suggest that. Would you like to use it? Dan: yeah, i'll take audra's guess first for D Dan: yeah <lock-in D> <wrong answer music> Okay this is it Dani, if you pick the recipient of the 1998 “Best Lighting Design” out of the three left you’ll be playing for $125,000, if you’re wrong you leave with $32,000… really big decision for you my friend, to say the least! Dan: *pays ip-dip with A and C* xP A, Michael Ward for Best Lighting Design. Just had a
gut feeling about it? Final answer? Dan: yeah <lock-in A, drumroll, close up of Dani> For $64,000… Ah shoot Dani, it was C: Donald Holder. Sorry buddy, but you still win $32,000 to bring your total to an impressive $221,000! Big hand for Dani, everyone! <wild applause> Yeah, Michael Ward designed the exquisite makeup for the show, Michael Curry co-designed the puppets and masks with Julie Taymor and Richard Hudson won a Tony for Scenic Design. Still a very nice run once again for Dani as he creeps closer to that million! We’ll take a short commercial break and be right back for another Fastest Finger question. <applause, fade out> During the break we had three contestants show up, Randy Reighard, Zazulover01 as well as Amanda (Hasira_Kali) who were all hungry for the Hot Seat… did one of them make it? Let’s find out: Fastest Finger Put the following Disney films in the order of their release, starting with the most recent: A: The Lion King Lucy Parker: cbad Time’s up, let’s see who got it right! Correct Order: D, A, B, C (1998, 1994, 1977, 1970) Wow, what an exciting fastest finger round! There was Lucy who got the order right extremely fast but misread the question, she went oldest to newest, and bringing up the rear were Amanda and Andy, who JUST got edged out there by about ½ a second. Tough break! For those of you that weren’t here last season, Amanda was our $1,000,000 winner in Season 1 and was crowned “Queen of the Pride Lands,” but we were all wondering how long it would be until she reappeared in the hot seat for another chance at the million! Welcome back Amanda, it’s great to have you here. Ready to go at it again? Amanda Cress: Yeah Amanda also won over $70 worth of prizes for her fine efforts, and I hope you’re enjoying those! Amanda Cress: Cool prizes. Lots of TLkOB stuff XD Great to hear. Let’s play! <cut> Unfortunately, the champion made a less-than triumphant return….. $4,000 A: To go to the bathroom Amanda Cress: A Gonna say A, “To go to the bathroom,” final? Amanda Cress: no it's b She’s changing her answer to B, folks… you know they say trust your first instinct though… sure about this? Amanda Cress: I think it's B Okay Amanda, B, “A drink of water,” final answer? Amanda Cress: Yeah B <lock-in B… pause> Oh no, you should have stayed with A, Amanda, I’m
so sorry! Darn, well that’s not at all the way we hoped it would
work out, but you’re a true champion and you’ll be back
in the upcoming weeks. Here’s your $1,000 check to get your
started in season 2, congrats! <applause> Amanda probably could have used a lifeline there, but I can understand not wanting to use one so early in the game. We had a little time left since that game went rather quickly, so we had time for one more Fastest Finger, and it was a toughie! Put the following lines from Scar's "Be Prepared" in the order they appear in the song, starting with the earliest: A: "Be prepared for the murkiest scam" Lucy Parker: bacd Correct Order: C, B, D, A The only one to get it right was “This Land,” who would be our next player! Well done, This Land! TL made an appearance earlier in the season and only won $1,000, and he was looking to advance up the leaderboard. He got off to a roaring start, answering the first four questions right using only one lifeline before getting a little caught up on the $16,000 question before getting bailed out by our previous contestant! Class, please pay attention and watch how you’re supposed to use your Phone-A-Friend lifeline… $16,000 A: “One by One” This Land Neale: ouch Not too sure huh? Well, now would be a great time to phone-a-friend if you know someone out there that has seen TLKOB… or you might want to poll the whole herd to see their reaction? There’s a few different ways you could play this one. This Land Neale: i have 2 junches again Unfortunately, your 50:50 has been used… This Land Neale: phone a matey Okay, which “matey” would you like to phone? This Land Neale: lol Hasira Amanda Cress: Arrgh, Avast! XD Okay Amanda and This Land you will have 30 seconds together, please keep it PG-rated, starting now! <laughter, cue tick-tock sound effect> This Land Neale: yeah twilightlks: yes I quite agree this game is Madness
Time’s up! Amanda seemed pretty sure of herself, final answer C? This Land Neale: yup Easy to trust a million-dollar winner who has seen the show EIGHT??? times! You’ve just won $16,000! Great job you two! <applause> Randy Reighard: *claps!!*claps!!*claps!!*claps!! This Land made the game even MORE exciting in the next question as he was faced with a gut-wrenching decision for all his marbles… don’t want to miss this! Allright buddy! Way to use that Phone-A-Friend, and you’re going now for $32,000 with only one lifeline left, your Poll the Herd. Good Luck! <cue ‘let’s play’ theme> $32,000 A: Matthew Broderick This Land Neale: bugger Herd, This Land is on the ropes, help him out! Do your civic duty and vote! This Land Neale: i have 4 hunches what it could be A: 0% B: 49% C: 0% D: 37% E: 13% <audience laughs> Hey, who voted for E??? Lucy Parker: haha twilightlks: <.< >.> ^^ (we all know who was responsible for that, don’t we STU????) Anyway, this is a lot of money for This Land so let’s not kid around anymore – Most of them said B, “Jeremy Irons,” with Jonathan close behind, no votes for any of the others. What do you think, This Land? This Land Neale: im greedy B. Not a clear majority at all, and he’s going for it! B, Jeremy Irons, FINAL ANSWER??? This Land Neale: shakes ye ye ye ye ye yes He said it… <lock-in B: Jeremy Irons> <tense drumroll… close-up of This Land and the sweat dripping off his brow> If he’s wrong, he loses $15,000 and drops all the way back down to $1,000. You know Jonathan Taylor Thomas did win some awards for his voice work in The Lion King… This Land Neale: ? But the 1994 Annie Award went to… JEREMY IRONS!!! YOU JUST WON $32,000!!! <thunderous applause and cheers> Lucy Parker: yay! Yes, the audience majority ruled that time, and helped This Land gamble his way to $32,000. He then went on to correctly identify Russ Edmonds as animator of the character Sarabi but sadly missed the $125,000 question about the first TLK character encountered in the Pride Lands level of the video game “Kingdom Hearts II” which dropped him down to $32,000. But that was still 32 times what he had won previously, so great job This Land! <fog horn siren> And we have run out of time once again on another really exciting show, let’s congratulate all of our winners today: This Land: $32,000 Until next week, this is Tim Watanabe saying so long from Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands, reminding you to always “Look beyond what you see!” Good night! <applause> WWTBKOTPL Season 2 Leaderboard and Statistics Standings after 4 shows, number in ( ) indicates appearances in Hot Seat: 1st: Tiikeri: $221,000 (4) Most Money lost on one question: Sharifu ($93,000) Highest amount won in one show: Tiikeri, $125,000 Players to make it into the Hot Seat on their first Fastest Finger Attempt: Tiikeri Players that have reached the $32,000 level without using a lifeline: Sharifu Biggest Audience: 15 (September 3, 2006)
