Season 2 Week 8 Wow, what a wild and crazy show we had today! We truly had it all – Yahoo! IM screw-ups, exciting wins, first-time players that were a bit on the *wild* side, and a historic first on WWTBKOTPL, but it’s not exactly memorable. Let me explain: The first game everyone was eligible to play, and Darkslash outwitted 8 other contestants to earn his way into the Hot Seat. Here was his $32,000 question: $32,000 A: Monkey I mistakenly gave the correct answer as A: Monkey, but later found out that there are indeed monkeys in the scene during the first run-through of the chorus approximately one minute into the song. Since the question was bogus, Darkslash will be invited back to start off our next show at the $32,000 level. This has never occurred before on WWTBKOTPL, and I am proud to say that we have run through well over 1,000 questions in my 2 seasons hosting the show without ever having to recall a contestant, but inevitably mistakes are made. So Darkslash, you will be given a second chance on October 29th where you will be going for $32,000 with one lifeline left, your phone-a-friend. We had a very nice turnout today of 10 contestants that had joined us from all over the world, and they were: Nathalie, Belgium <applause> The next fastest-finger question was the “Newcomers” game which was announced last week, and we had two players, Daniel and Randy, who wanted a crack at $1,000,000. Unfortunately, they both ran into a lot of difficulty in their fastest-finger rounds, missing the first three including this one which left the audience in shock! <Tim>Okay guys, this is your last chance! If you don’t get this one… we might have to give everyone else a shot! Put the following letters in order to spell out a character’s name from TLK II: Simba’s Pride: A: R Daniel: CDBA Well the name is obviously ZIRA, which corresponds to
(C, D, A, B) <audience awws> Long story short, Daniel being the nice guy that he is forfeited the round and gave Randy the seat so we could continue the game! Randy Reighard is from Allentown, Pennsylvania here in the USA and was eager to make his mark on the leaderboard, he is a huge fan of the real “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” show and provided a few of the sound effects that I use. Let’s see how well Randy did in his first appearance! Tim: Randy, going for $2,000, good luck. $2,000 A: Similes Randy Reighard: B He seems pretty sure Rafiki used “metaphors” on Timon, final answer? Randy Reighard: final <lock-in B> That’s right for $2,000! <applause> Randy Reighard: yes Ok buddy let’s keep this ball rolling with the $4,000 question! $4,000 A: Pink Flamingoes Randy Reighard: Time extention Randy has called for his Time extension – you now have 45 seconds on the game clock. <after about 5 seconds> Oh, so you’re not going to use the time? Maybe you didn’t need it… Randy Reighard: oops It’s okay, confident about C: Baboons? Randy Reighard: yeah Final answer? Randy Reighard: yes Final <lock-in C… drumroll> This Land Neale: >< Darn, not the way we wanted to end that! But still $1,000 to get you on the leaderboard, and you’ll be back in the Hot seat. Congrats! <applause, cut> Too bad there, I was really hoping Randy would get a little farther, he probably should have used a lifeline. But we had a lot more players and a lot more game to play, so we proceeded with the next fastest-finger: Game 3 October 15, 2006 Fastest Finger Put the following Nala lines from TLK in the order she says them, starting with the earliest: A: “I’ve really missed you” Nathalie: bdca Let’s take a look to see if anyone got it: Correct Order: B, D, C, A Wow, three people were right but in the fastest time was Nathalie! Way to go, you’ll be our next player. <applause> Nathalie: yay It was great to see Nath back in the Hot Seat, and even better that she was able to do so on her 23rd birthday! <Tim> Thanks for taking some time on your special day to play the game with us, and hopefully you will win a nice birthday present. She used a very important lifeline for the $8,000 question that saved her game… $8,000 A: Kovu <pause> Remember you have all three of your lifelines if you’re not sure… Nathalie: I think B, since Zira is the bad one and all Ok so you’re leaning towards Zira… maybe we can narrow it down? Nathalie: 50/50 Probably a smart play, computer, please eliminate two of those wrong answers for Nathalie! A: Kovu <Audience gasps> WOW! Zira is gone, now it’s between Kovu and Shenzi. What do you think now? Nathalie: I can’t see how Kovu could be called
“demon” so… <lock-in C… drumroll… closeup of Nath> Did the 50:50 save the day… yes it did! Nathalie you just won $8,000! <applause> Nath then went on to answer the $32,000 question correctly about the first animal to appear in TLK II: Simba’s Pride, and aced the $64,000 question when she again very smartly used the Double Dip to deduce that there were in fact six lionesses dancing in the “Lioness Hunt” of TLKOB. Now she was looking at the REALLY big money as the audience fell to a hush and tension was mounting! Let’s watch the action: <wild applause> Nathalie, you’re doing just great here, you now have $64,000 in the bank and are only FOUR away from the million, let’s play for $125,000!!! <cue let’s play music> $125,000 A: Scheveningen, Netherlands Nathalie: ooh I went to A, got picture(s) w/Simba! Oh that’s great! That’s right you are from that area. So that narrows it down a bit… Nathalie: not C either Bet you wish you held on to that 50:50… so either Monteal Quebec or Nagoya Japan? Nathalie: I don’t recall a Japanese touring company The question is, are you sure enough to risk $32,000 on it??? <long pause> Nathalie: yes, D She’s going to go for it folks, D: Nagoya, Japan for $125,000, final answer??? Nathalie: yes <lock-in D, long drumroll> We’ll take a short break and be right back with the rest of the review right after these messages! <to be continued> Nathalie…. Nathalie: 32k is still good Tim: You bet it is, and this was by far your best performance in the game. Congratulations, happy birthday and well done on the $32,000! <wild applause, cheers for Nath> That boosted her overall winnings to a healthy $33,000 for the season, and our hour was over but as I promised for more game time, I made sure to deliver by going into overtime and giving more players a chance to win! And just to be fitting, Daniel won it! Yes, he had given Randy the free pass before and it proves nice guys finish first. For those of you that weren’t around the first season, Daniel was one our mainstays and won a ton of prize money, and is the only player to ever miss the $1,000,000 question (and lose $468,000)… Daniel: you HAD to remind me of that didn’t you… Sorry! Well he had to, as Amanda had won the $1,000,000 earlier in the game and Daniel came one question away from joining her atop Pride Rock… hey does anyone happen to have that footage from last season? Can we cue that up? Hey our production crew is the best! Daniel, remember this? Daniel: nooooooooo! <cue finale show from last season> $1,000,000 A: 8 Daniel: oh ffs <Lock-in B: 6> Correct Answer: A: 8 1. “Oh no, Mufasa, perhaps you shouldn’t
turn your back on me” Now that we have thoroughly re-traumatized Dan for life, let’s play! <applause> After using a lifeline on the $2,000 question, Dan recovered beautifully and was soon looking at the big $32,000 question with one lifeline left on the table, his 50:50. $32,000 A: “Young Master” Now Daniel, you saw TLKOB at the Lea meeting a couple months ago, try and reach back into the dark recesses of your mind and try to remember this scene… Daniel: even i dont want to go there <audience laughs> Daniel: 50/50 A: “Young Master” That narrowed it down, did it help? Daniel: sh*t I’ll take that as a “no…” Daniel: C Daniel you lose fifteen thousa… Daniel: final answer Wait… <Lock-in C> He said “final answer” before I could even remind him he will drop back down to $1,000 if this is wrong. <drumroll… close up of Dan with a smug look on his face> Zazu said to Simba… “Your Majesty!”
<$32,000 win music> You got it, you daredevil! Randy Reighard: wow! And that’s what Dan ended up leaving with just as time ran out. So we certainly had some exciting moments today and a couple contestants that broke through and put together great games to win $32,000, let’s review who won what on today’s show! Simbadorney (Randy Reighard), $1,000 <applause> And remember Darkslash will start the next show going for $32,000, so be sure to tune in and see how he does. That’s all the time we have for today! Until October 29th, two weeks from today this is your host Tim Watanabe saying so long from Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! <roars proudly> Good night! <applause, theme music plays>
