Season 3 Week 4 Day 1 & 2 Hello TLK fans and welcome to the week 4 Review of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! What a fantastic pair of shows we had this weekend – with a ton of money given away, particularly on Saturday’s episode! Let’s watch as the games got underway on the 16th, which also happened to be a special day for one of our audience members! <cue intros> Who’s going to be vying for the $1,000,000 today? Let’s find out! They are: Audra, Medford, Oregon Here’s our first Fastest Finger question: 2-16 Game 1 Fastest Finger Out of the following seven films featuring lions, pick the four that are produced by Disney: <cue Fastest finger intro> A: The Lion King Daniel Patton: abed <buzz-buzz> Let’s see the correct answers! simbathemighty: I have no clue XD
Audra: Dang XD Looks like Audra, our season 2 champ, got it! Congratulations and you’ll be first in the hot seat! <cheers and applause, cut> Audra finally made it into the game in season 3, who missed the first couple weeks because of work. She was really champing at the bit to get on the board, so let’s watch her in action as she goes for the million. Our Fu’ey used an early lifeline on the $2,000 questions and then caught fire! $32,000 A: Slightly forward Audra: C Wow, we’re not wasting any time here, for $32,000… <lock-in C: Slightly to the left> <drumroll, camera zooms in on Audra>
You got it! Randy Reighard: *claps* Way to go, Audra! Now you have that important Double-Dip lifeline as you know to go along with your phone-a-friend. Let’s not stop now though, here it is for $64,000! $64,000 A: Suede <pause> Audra: omg Tough one here, you do have those lifelines though… do you remember this scene from the movie at all? Audra: Um Try and run it through your head and remember any details that may help you remember… Audra: Lets see Sure, but I must remind you that you won’t be able to use any lifelines after you choose to go with the Double Dip… Audra: Hmm Sure, no problem. Who would you like to call? Audra: Dani Dani, are you there? Daniel Patton: O.O Ahh yes, wide-eyed! Audra’s hung up on a question here and needs your help, you guys will have 30 seconds to discuss it starting now! <cue tick-tock SFX> $64,000 A: Suede Audra: Any idea? <buzz-buzz> Hmm… his gut says <B: Full-grain leather>. So you can either go for it or use that double dip, as this is a free guess – you’ll be leaving with $32,000 anyways. Audra: Yeah I will use DD <cue Double Dip SFX, thanks to Randy for providing me with these during the offseason> Double dip is in action! Audra, what is your first guess? Audra: B Going with Full-Grain leather. Final? Audra: Yes <lock-in B: Full-Grain leather>
<audience awws> Daniel Patton: Feck x.x Nope, but one more shot at it. This is it – you’re either going to have $64,000 with a chance for more or $32,000. Now think this one through… which material was that bag made of? Audra: D Going with the other kind of leather, D, Vachetta leather. Final answer? Audra: Yes <lock-in D: Vachetta leather> <audience and Audra are on pins and needles, drumroll, camera zooms in on Audra’s nervous mug> <to be continued>
<cue wrong answer music, audience awws> Oh no Audra! Terrible luck there, I’m so sorry! Let’s see what kind of bag it was: Audra: Aww was it C?
Audra played a marvelous game for her first time back in the hot seat, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing her again soon. Great job Audra! <roaring applause and cheers as Audra exits, cut> $32,000 has been pretty hard to come by so far this season, so Audra set the tone for a good and prosperous day for our contestants in the studio. Would it continue? <cue second fastest finger> Put the following TLK animators in alphabetical order by LAST name: We’ve had problems with alphabetical order recently, I hope someone gets this right! Daniel Patton: Eck A: Ellen Woodbury Tara Richardson: bdca <3.1 seconds> Correct Order: <B: Ruben Aquino>
Audra: lol It’s Tara who snuck in there just ahead of STM, sorry man! Tara, take your seat and let’s play Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! <applause> Tara Richardson: Haha <cut> Tara has absolutely been on FIRE in our game this season, she’s made three consecutive shows with hot seat appearances and has a monstrous lead with $253,000 in total prize money. Let’s watch and see if her amazing streak continues! <cue Tara’s game> <audience cheering> Wow, $16,000 in the bank, and Tara’s not wasting any time, or her lifelines! Our Season 3 leader is now going for $32,000 and she’s done it all on her own! Let’s play! <cue $32,000 question> $32,000 A: Giraffe Tara Richardson: A Hmm… confident enough to make Giraffe your… Tara Richardson: final <lock-in A: Giraffe> You know you drop all the way back to $1,000 if you’re wrong… maybe you should have thought it through a little more… <Tara looks really nervous>
Got it for THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! WOW!!!! <wild applause and cheers from audience> Randy Reighard: hahah Tara Richardson: simbathemighty: you lucky.... ***** And if my memory serves me correctly, that was the first time this season that anyone reached the $32,000 level without using a lifeline! So Tara was in the best possible position – FIVE questions away from the million and FOUR lifelines to help her with the Double Dip she earned. She polled the herd on the $64,000 question and used her Double Dip successfully on the $125,000 question, so she was sitting pretty at 3 away from the jackpot and two lifelines left. Tara definitely had potential to go all the way, let’s catch up with her at the $250,000 question, only the third one we’ve seen all season. <cue Tara’s $250,000 question> $250,000 A: John Vickery and Tsidii Le Loka <long pause> Finally a TLK on Broadway question… and a very tough one to remember 10 years ago. Any idea? Tara Richardson: Um...I'll go 50/50 Sure, let’s narrow it down. Computer, Tara needs your help as much as anyone’s needed it before, please take away two of the wrong answers, leaving her one wrong answer and the correct one: B: Jason Raize and Tsidii Le Loka 20 more seconds to decide what to do… remember you also have your time extension. Tara Richardson: I'll phone a friend...not gonna gamble Probably a wise decision… but the much more important choice is who would you like to call with the game on the line? Tara Richardson: Audra? Audra, who I know is a big TLKOB fan and a proven champion on WWTBKOTPL… Audra are you there? Audra: Yes Tara needs your help on this, she’s only 3 away from the million! 30 seconds starting now! (cue tick-tock SFX) $250,000 B: Jason Raize and Tsidii Le Loka Tara Richardson: Do you have an idea? Tara Richardson: Gut instinct...B That what they always say, go with your gut instinct, but this time you lose $93,000 if you are wrong. Final answer? Tara Richardson: final <lock-in B: Jason Raize and Tsidii Le Loka> <nervous pause>
<B: Jason Raize and Tsidii Le Loka> <wrong answer decrescendo, audience awws loudly> simbathemighty: awww Oh my… I’m so sorry Tara! It was D. <D: Samuel L. Wright and Tsidii Le Loka> I definitely think Jason Raize got snubbed, he deserved to be nominated but was not – it was Samuel L. Wright as Mufasa. But you played great and made it really exciting and another $32,000 to pad your total makes it $285,000! <cheers and wild applause> Great job Tara! <cut> Ouch… you’d think it would be Jason Raize
as adult Simba, but not to be. We still had a little time left so
on we went on our quest to find another player! Put the following Disney films in the order of their
release, starting with the most recent: A: The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride This Land Neale: cbad Correct Order: <D: Ratatouille>
Randy Reighard: lol And it looks like the only person that actually read the question correctly was STM, who got it in the MOST RECENT order! Way to go and let’s see if you can earn yourself a nice birthday present! <applause> simbathemighty: w00t I get to suck Well evidently STM wasn’t feeling very confident as he sat down – and he has struggled in the past on our show but eventually he was due for a big game, would this be the one? He called his mate Audra on an early question and also used his poll the herd and 50:50 lifelines on the $8,000 and $16,000 questions respectively. So in order to get to the coveted $32,000 level he would have to do it all on his own. Let’s watch! <cue STM’s $32,000 question> $32,000 A: An open mind simbathemighty: one more That’s right, and we all really want to get you the $32,000 on your special day. Have any idea on this one? simbathemighty: B Looks like he’s chosen B. <Lock-in B: Open arms> You know STM, Simba doesn’t have arms… he has four legs! <pause, STM looks pretty confident, drumroll>
<cue $32,000 win music> But that’s just a figure of speech! You’ve WON THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! <thunderous cheers and applause for STM> simbathemighty: W00T <cut> And yes he ended up zooming past Audra by taking in a whopping $64,000 total for the day, making his total $66,000, good for second place all by himself! Awesome game STM and happy birthday—I guess dinner’s on you! That was all the time we had for Saturday’s show, and here are the updated standings going into Sunday’s episode:
1st: Tara (King Simba), $285,000 (4) We’ll be right back after a short break with the results from Sunday’s exciting show! <to be continued> What a difference two weeks makes – we didn’t have enough people to even play a game today and it took a team effort to recruit a couple extra players just so we can get started – it was a far cry from last time when we had a packed house of 14 in the audience! In addition to Tara, Audra and STM from yesterday, we were joined by Shadow and Levin who were making their first appearances in the game, along with Revolynx who won $1,000 on the February 3rd show. In the interest of time let’s skip right to the first fastest finger question! 2-3 Game 1 Fastest Finger Out of the following seven TLK female characters, pick the four that are mothers to offspring in the Lion King films: <cue Fastest finger intro> A: Sarafina shadow_bergman: Sarabi, Sarafina , Timons mother, Zira
Oops, looks like Shadow accidentally gave everyone a headstart on that one! shadow_bergman: ah works like that xP "wops" Correct Answers: <A: Sarafina> (Nala)
shadow_bergman: wow ! <cut> This was the Audra we knew, definitely making up for lost time as she now has made consecutive Hot Seat appearances. Would our season 2 champion be the one to give Tara a run for her money? <cut> <cheers and applause> Audra, you’re playing so well! You’re at the $16,000 level and haven’t even used a lifeline yet – you’d be only the second person to ever reach the $32,000 level this season without using a lifeline if you can get there, Tara did it yesterday I believe. But of course if you need to use a lifeline do it! Good luck! $32,000 A: South Korea <pause> Audra: Can I do 50/50 Sure. Computer, please leave Audra two answers, one right and one just plain wrong! A: South Korea Left you with South Korea and The Philippines. Hope that helped! Audra: Noooo I guess not… well good thing you saved those lifelines! Audra: I guess I can poll the herd Herd, Audra made it easy on you, only two answers to choose from. Vote now! A: 40% B: 0% C: 0% D: 60% The herd has spoken, a slight majority for D, Philippines. Audra: Hmm wow... Going with the favorite. Need to remind you that you drop all the way back down to $1,000 if you’re wrong, and we definitely don’t want that to happen. Say the magic word… Audra: Final <lock-in D: The Philippines> <Audience and Audra hold their breath, drumroll>
<cue $32,000 win music, audience goes wild>
<cut> Audra was in a tremendous position… soon going for $125,000 with two lifelines, her phone-a-friend as the Double Dip. Let’s see if she needs them on this question: <cue Audra’s $125,000 question> $125,000 A: 4 Audra: Gah <long pause> Audra only 20 more seconds… probably want to use a lifeline here! Audra: Yeah I guess I'll phone someone Calling Tara our money leader, Tara are you there? Tara Richardson: Oh no XD I’ll have to take that as a “yes…” Audra: lol You two have called each other before, now it’s time to return the favor. 30 seconds starting… now! <cue tick-tock SFX> Tara Richardson: Yeah $125,000 A: 4 Audra: Any idea? Well Tara thinks it’s A or C, and you still have your last lifeline, your Double Dip… Audra: I have DD? Yes I believe you do, you haven’t used it? Audra: No Okay Double Dip is in action! <cue Double Dip SFX> Audra, what is your first guess? Audra: A A: 4. Final? Audra: Yes <lock-in A: 4>
Audra: C Going with Tara’s other answer, C: 5. <lock in C: 5> This is it - $125,000 with a chance for more or $32,000, what will it be for our Season 2 champ??? <to be continued>
<Audra is shaking>
<wrong answer decrescendo, audience moans and awws> Oh NOOO!!! Audra… oh I’m so sorry about that… terrible luck. Tara Richardson: Oh no I'm sorry <B: 6> Tara Richardson: =/
Heartbreaking end to a fantastic game for Audra, but she doubled her money up to $64,000, which put her in 3rd place behind Tara and STM. In our second game of the day, Tara was the one who made it, by correctly naming four musicals out of seven that were produced by Disney. The last thing I said before starting her game is that she had not thus far in 4 appearances earned less than $32,000… but was that a jinx? Let’s watch her $8,000 try… <cue Tara’s $8,000 question> $8,000 A: Piranhas Tara Richardson: Hmm Bobbing for leeches. Pretty sure about that one? Tara Richardson: Pretty sure Are you sure enough to make it your… Tara Richardson: final <lock-in B: Leeches> <drumroll>
<a very surprised audience awws, wrong answer decrescendo> No… not right, sorry Tara. Tara Richardson: Omg <D: Snapping Turtles> Audra: I can't believe I remembered that Yes, the ol’ bobbing for snapping turtles. All four of those animals would be pretty painful though. Tough luck this time around for Tara, but she still held a huge lead, with about 4x the earnings of her nearest competitor, SimbatheMighty, so I’m not too worried! With that game over far too quickly, we had time for one more contestant: <cue game #3> Put the following TLK characters in the order they appear in the movie, starting with the earliest: A: Scar shadow_bergman: dcab <buzz-buzz> Correct Order: <D: Rafiki>
simbathemighty: w00t You SUCK??? You won $64,000 yesterday and are in second place out of EVERYBODY for the whole season! That’s not too sucky to me… Audra: lol All righty, that’s the attitude we like! Here’s the $1,000 question. <cue let’s play music> $1,000 A: Simba pulls Nala into the water <audience laughs> Oh man… who writes these things??? shadow_bergman: LOL simbathemighty: D... Audra: Is that comfirmed even? simbathemighty: Final <D: Simba and Nala mate> <cue $1,000 win music> shadow_bergman: thats just wrong man wrong wrong xP <cut> After that uproarious beginning, STM, according to his own self-analysis of his game playing ability, just flat-out SUCKED. Watch him suck even more on this $32,000 question as time runs out! <cue STM’s $32,000 question> STM, you’re on your own now, no more lifelines, the same position you were in yesterday. simbathemighty: I gotta get this! Yeah this one would really help your chances of success. Ready for it? simbathemighty: yeah Let’s go for $32,000! $32,000 A: He flies on a leaf I’ll let you walk with $16,000 if… simbathemighty: B Final Never mind! He’s confident… let’s lock it in. <lock in B: He floats on a cloud>
HE GOT IT! $32,000 again, wow! Great job STM!!! Timo Vehvilainen: Yay And you also have the Double Dip too! Let’s go on for $64,000, only a couple more and you’ll be our new leader for Season 3! <fog horn siren> Audra: Oh noes Oh man! That sound means we’re just plum out of time, so STM will be joining us on our next show on March 1st going for $64,000 with his Double Dip lifeline. The turnout was a little disappointing this week as we had the bare minimum number of players on both days, but I believe this was just a one-time deal and that most all of our regulars will be back next time to make a great game and healthy audience! I’d like to congratulate all of our winners this week: <applause and cheers throughout> Tara (King Simba), $33,000 in two appearances Audra (Sharifu), $64,000 in two appearances and our big winner this week (who officially doesn’t
suck at this game), We had a lot of really exciting moments this week and I want you all to be a part of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands so please join us next time, Saturday, March 1 and Sunday March 2 at the regular time 2pm Pacific, 5pm Eastern, 10pm Greenwich Meridian (London) for Week 5! From the Yahoo! IM studios of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands, this is your host Tim Watanabe saying so long and see you in two weeks, bye! <waves with STM as theme music plays> Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands Leaderboard
– Through Week 4, Show #6 1st: Tara (King Simba), $286,000 (5) *With guaranteed $32,000, may increase on next show |
