Season 3 Week 7 Day 1 & 2 Welcome to the episode review for Week 7 of Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands! We almost had another cancellation for Saturday’s show on the 29th of March but at the last minute we had a wave of audience members come in at just the right time, including a new player who made a bit of a splash in his first outing! Let’s see who we had playing: <cue contestant intros> <applause throughout> Dani, Weymouth, England and finally a first-time player… J.P. “” from the great state of California! And here’s the first Fastest finger question: 3-29 Game 1 Out of the following seven TLK characters, pick the four that would not be considered a member of the Pride Lands: A: Vitani simbathemighty: abcg [2.7 seconds] Time’s up, it looks like everyone came to play today! Let’s see those correct answers: Correct Answers: neo_terra2pyro: Gratz <cut> Well STM broke his own record in making his seventh Hot seat appearance of the season in 10 shows, an outstanding feat, and he had also racked up an even $100,000 in prize money. How would he do today? <cue STM’s game> $16,000 A: Sarabi simbathemighty: man we talked about this... <pause> Hmm, well you still have your 50:50 and your phone-a-friend,
we can narrow it down by two and maybe that will help… That sounds like a wise decision. Audra, are you there? Audra: Yes Well, although you two are in the same room I trust you’ll follow the rules of the Phone-a-friend… Audra: Yes yes Great-You’ll have 30 seconds to help your man with this one, starting now! <cue tick-tock SFX>
Audra: Didn't we talk about this a few days ago? <audience laughs> simbathemighty: ok love you <buzz-buzz> simbathemighty: A Haha, trusting Audra there… I know how you feel, when you’re concentrating on the road it’s easy to forget things! <lock in A: Sarabi> <drumroll, camera zooms in on STM> <A: Sarabi> <audience cheers> Got it for $16,000! Great job Audra and STM! <cut> But it was the $32,000 question that did him in… $32,000 A: Three times Audra: omg Well I’d hate for you to drop down to $1,000 here STM, so it might be a good time to narrow it down… simbathemighty: I'm afraid I have to take my chances and use 50/50 Ok, so no Audra cheat today, but maybe it’ll help. Computer, please take away two of the wrong answers, leaving STM one wrong answer and the correct one: A: Three times <audience gasps> Wow, quite a nice break there, “Once” is gone, leaving only three times and twice. simbathemighty: hmm now give me Time Sure. You have 45 seconds from now to give your answer <long pause> simbathemighty: ok <lock-in B: Twice> <STM, audience are nervous>
Oh noooo!!! STM that’s not right, I’m sorry.
simbathemighty: I can't remember more than once XD Yes, well the three times were twice after Simba and Nala reunite – once in a quiet voice and once yelling it, and the third time was after Rafiki appears to tell them Simba has returned. The line is “Hey, what’s going on here… who’s the monkey?” simbathemighty: oh I see That was quite a tough one, but in addition to your $101,000 you also have made 7 hot seat appearances this season, and that is a record! Nice going STM and we’ll see you again soon. <cue contestant walking away music, cut> By this time we had late arrivals from Kanu TGL (Anna from Helsingborg, Sweden) and also Adam Neale (This land) to make a nice group for this evening’s show.
Fastest Finger Put the following events in the order they occur in TLK, starting with the earliest: A: Scar catches a mouse Timo Vehvilainen: abdc <buzz-buzz> Let’s see who got it right: Correct Order: Daniel Patton: I should've read the question before the time started xD And it was Tara that won, playing from Brazil! And she was also playing without sound capabilities, which I temporarily forgot about, much to the chagrin of the audience… Tara is in Brazil I assume on Holiday, having a nice time down there? <silence> <even more silence> Daniel Patton: She can't hear you <audience cracks up, cut> Well anyway, she was the overall leader at an astounding $286,000 and wanted to add to it. Here she is going for $8,000… <cue Tara’s $8,000 question> $8,000 A: Ma kingsimba1990: B Quick answer, she’s pretty sure it’s B: Pumbaa! <lock-in B: Pumbaa, audience is uneasy> <B: Pumbaa> Aww Tara, sorry but that wasn’t right! simbathemighty: C? Let’s see who it was: neo_terra2pyro: Rafiki pops out from the Boabab tree <cut> Yep, JP was right, the first Timon cries is after he leaves home and Rafiki appears to offer him some words of wisdom. Tough game for Tara but she did expand ever so slightly on her lead, bringing her up to $287,000 for the season! <applause> Fastest Finger Put the following songs in the order they are sung in TLKOB, starting with the earliest: A: “Circle of Life” Timo Vehvilainen: abdc Time’s up, I’m guessing this wasn’t as hard as a lot of you thought it was going to be, let’s see the answers: Correct Order: And let’s see… since They Live in You was BEFORE Be Prepared (just barely), J.P. from California has done it! Wow, on his very first show, most impressive! <roaring applause> Let’s go J.P. get on up here and let’s play! Timo Vehvilainen: Yah! <cut> J.P. was a last-minute recruit by Revo, and he was sure making the most of his inaugural stay with us by making it into the hot seat, becoming one of only a few to do so in their first game with us. Unfortunately, however, his stay was shortened by a tricky $8,000 question that had a little more to do with anatomy than TLK… <cue J.P.’s game> $8,000 A: Artery <pause> neo_terra2pyro: Erm, lets see Ok, narrowed it down by two. Well, you can use your 50:50 here and hope the random computer takes either A or B out, or if you have a good feeling either way you can go for it… tough decision here. What do you think? neo_terra2pyro: Gah Well, I don’t think we can ask that question legally! neo_terra2pyro: In any case, I think Artery Artery. Sure enough to make it your… neo_terra2pyro: A final <lock in A: Artery> <camera zooms in on a nervous J.P…. drumroll> <A: Artery> <wrong answer music, audience awws> The jugular vein… sorry J.P.! This Land Neale: bad luck >< Well, it was still impressive that you even got into the hot seat! Hope you had a great time and that you’ll be joining us again. Nice job J.P.! <applause as J.P. leaves the stage> <cut> Another tough break, that question was quite unusual in that it didn’t have to do directly with TLK. We really wanted to give away $32,000 at least once on today’s show, so we pressed on with the next Fastest Finger question: <cue FF #4> Fastest Finger Put the following actions in the order they occur during the “Hakuna Matata” scene from TLK, starting with the earliest: A: Timon shows Simba their “humble home” This Land Neale: cdad Time’s up, these fastest-finger questions sure are nerve-racking! Let’s see who won: Correct Order: And Adam made a typo at first but came up with the right answer! According to our rules the final answer one gives is the one that counts and he nailed it! Great job Adam! This Land Neale: that was a random guess We’re running out of time, so let’s play! <cut> Adam came in to the game determined to play cautiously, as it was his crazy, daredevil style of play that had cost him in the past. Would his new style help him add to his paltry $1,000 in winnings this season? <cue Adam’s $16,000 try> $16,000 A: Forrest Gump <long pause> Have you seen any of those movies, Adam? This Land Neale: nope Well, that just might be a problem… This Land Neale: 50 50 Ok, let’s try narrow it down. Computer? $16,000 B: The Birdcage Hope that helped. 20 more seconds to think it over… This Land Neale: guess time Taking a guess with the Birdcage! Players have not been that lucky with guesses so far this show… <lock in B: The Birdcage> <Adam sweating it out… drumroll>
That’s the one for SIXTEEN Thousand dollars!!! <audience goes wild> This Land Neale: yay for guess Yes, definitely one of Nathan Lane’s finest roles. Great job Adam, but let’s see your all-important $32,000 question! <cue let’s play for $32,000> $32,000 A: When Timon & Pumbaa are going over the waterfall Try to play these scenes back in your head… This Land Neale: C Ahh, pretty sure about the TLK 1 ½ question eh? This Land Neale: thinking <pause> This Land Neale: Final <lock in C: When Timon is leaving the meerkat colony> <cue $32,000 win music, audience erupts in applause and cheers> That’s the one! THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! Daniel Patton: gz <cut> And we finally had it – a $32,000 winner! That was what Adam would leave with after unsuccessfully Double Dipping on the $64,000 question, but that gave his total a huge boost to $33,000, great job Adam! <applause> So here were the standings going into Sunday’s show (March 30), which would be Week 7 Show #11 of Season 3:
1st: Tara (King Simba), $287,000 (6) *Including guaranteed $1,000, may increase on next show he is able to attend 3-30 Episode Review Week 7, Show #11 Sunday’s show started off with Randy Reighard continuing his carryover game from two weeks ago where he was going for $16,000 with all of his lifelines. It was his first Hot Seat appearance of the season - let’s see how he ended up! <cue Randy’s $32,000 question> $32,000 A: “You are a baboon” Randy Reighard: Mmm I feel strongly with a Miss this and you drop down to $1,000… did I hear you say you were 89% sure?!? Randy Reighard: yeah I know <pause> Well you’re running out of time Randy, you still have your time extension, poll the herd and 50:50 to help you out. Randy Reighard: hehe I know Sure thing. You have 40 seconds as of now. Randy Reighard: ok thanks Ok, gonna play it safe. Computer, please take away two of those wrong answers, leaving Randy one wrong answer the correct one! Randy Reighard: computer help! B: “Thank you very much” Wow, A is gone! What a lucky break for you – but now what do you do??? 20 seconds to figure it out buddy. Randy Reighard: oh well You’re going to poll the herd, Randy? Randy Reighard: nods Ok wise herd, Randy’s stuck on this question, but he’s made it easy for you. Only two choices, what does “Asante Sana” mean? Vote now! Randy Reighard: audience help me I think you're gonna like this Randy! Randy Reighard: SWEET A: 0% B: 100% C: 0% D: 0% Randy Reighard: HOLY LION!! So what’s your final? Randy Reighard: B I hope the herd is right <lock-in B: “Thank you very much”> For $32,000… what a great help! <drumroll> Randy Reighard: here we go....
<roaring applause, cheers> Randy Reighard: WOW!! Oh, but Randy wasn’t done yet! He successfully Double Dipped the $64,000 question and was now only FOUR away from the million on his FIRST appearance of Season 3! Could this Millionaire and TLK fan make his dream a reality? <audience is going crazy> Randy on FIRE!!! No more lifelines left, but here it is for $125,000! <cue let’s play music> $125,000 A: Tokyo Disneyland Randy Reighard: ahh I know this Wow, that’s great to hear! Randy Reighard: yes B Well, a *little* less than positive now! It is a bunch to risk, you have $64,000 now, but if you’re that sure, you know what you need to do. Randy Reighard: I feel like that <pause> Randy Reighard: its not tokyo Ok then, would you like to make B, Disneyland Paris, your FINAL ANSWER??? Randy Reighard: B final <lock-in B: Disneyland Paris> Randy Reighard: *oh crap <drumroll… camera zooms in on Randy with his hands over his face>
Awwwww nooo Randy, I’m so sorry! I think you had the wrong show in mind. simbathemighty: That is legend of the Lion king in Paris
=/
Randy Reighard: NOOOOOOOOOOO! Yes, it is the Legend of TLK show at Disneyland Paris, and the only other theme park currently hosting FOTLK is Hong Kong Disneyland. Tough way to go out, but that $32,000 check should ease the pain a bit! Great exciting game Randy! <applause> But we had a nice group of seven players joining us from all over the world for today’s game: <cue contestant intros> <applause throughout> Dani, Bristol, England Here’s the first Fastest Finger question! Good luck to everyone. We’ve had a few exciting fastest fingers in the past few shows, and I think this will be no exception! 3-30 Game 1 Fastest Finger Out of the following seven locations, pick the four that are in TLK II: Simba’s Pride: A: Pride Rock Audra: aceg [4.4 seconds] Time is up, I think my prediction was accurate! Correct Answers: Everyone was right, but leading the pack was Audra! Great job and let’s play for a million! Randy Reighard: hehe *claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps <cut> Audra our Season 2 Queen of the Pride Lands has been playing steadily all season, currently in 3rd place with $221,000 in four Hot Seat Appearances. With a good game she could take the lead… but… well… sometimes it’s just not meant to be. I’ll show you what I mean: <cue Audra’s $8,000 question> $8,000 A: Skulls <long pause> Have you seen 1 ½ lately, Audra? Audra: nooo Ohh… well then I guess the question is which lifeline would be the most useful right now? Audra: Hmm Ok, which do you think it is? Audra: c C: Atmosphere. Well, you can narrow it down by two and see if it’s still there, or maybe phone someone that you think knows TLK 1 ½ pretty well. What do you think? Audra: I'll do 50/50 Okay computer, Audra needs some help here. Please take away two of those wrong answers, leaving Audra one wrong answer and the correct one! B: Bones <audience gasps> Audra: Hmm wow... Randy Reighard: 0_0 My goodness, once again the 50:50 bails out another contestant. Atmosphere is gone, all that’s left are “Good Bones” and “Good Vibrations.” Still have that phone call, but if you have an inkling either way might want to take a guess here. Audra: Yeah D: Vibrations. Confident? Audra: I think so XD <lock-in D: Vibrations> <drumroll... camera zooms in on nervous Audra>
Awww man Audra, it was “good bones.” Well, it just wasn’t in the cards this time. Still you leave with $1,000 which brings your total up to… and I like the sound of this… $222,000! Audra: Thanks... I would think bones would of made sense but for some reason it sounded weird to me for Timon to say the place has good bones Yeah Timon says a lot of weird, unpredictable lines in 1 ½. Tough break and I know we’ll see you again in the chair soon! <applause as Audra leaves stage, cut, cue Fastest Finger #2> 3-30-08 Game 2 Fastest Finger Out of the following seven adjectives, pick the four that Banzai and Shenzi use to describe lions in TLK: <pause, cue fastest finger intro> A: Stinky This Land Neale: abce Correct Answers: <A: Stinky> And not particularly in alphabetical order, but that doesn’t matter, it was Stevie! Congratulations and let’s play for a million! Zazu and Hyena fan: Yay!! <cut> Today it was the battle of the leaders, Audra had already made an appearance and unsuccessfully tried to overtake our leader Tara who will be idle at $287,000 as she is on holiday in Brazil. Stevie of Los Angeles is sitting at $282,000, only a mere $5,000 behind Tara. She had no difficult with the $8,000 question to take the lead, but it was a surprising change of heart on the next question that saved her game, watch this! <cue Stevie’s $16,000 question> $16,000 A: “Sunrise, Sunset” <long pause> C, going with “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” after quite some time to think… pretty sure about that choice? Zazu and Hyena fan: 50/50 Okay, looks like she’s going to play it safe. 50:50 has helped everyone so far, computer, do your thing: A: “Sunrise, Sunset” It’s left you with C along with A, “Sunrise, Sunset”. So you’re going to stick with… Zazu and Hyena fan: a Huh? Wow, she’s having a change of heart here, changing her answer to A though her original choice is still there. That’s definitely a first. A: Sunrise, Sunset. Final? Zazu and Hyena fan: Yes. <lock in A: “Sunrise, Sunset”> <drumroll, Stevie looks confident>
Wow, what a player! Got it for $16,000!!! Randy Reighard: *claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps*claps Just needed a little more time to think it through, Stevie? Is that was it was? Zazu and Hyena fan: Yeah. Always good to take your time. Well done! <cut> Stevie had another change of heart later in the game for $64,000, would this one turn out as well??? $64,000 A: Ellen Woodbury and Rowan Atkinson Whew, that was a mouthful. So each of those pairs has a supervising animator as well as the actor that provided the voice for a particular character, and one of those pairs doesn’t match. <long pause> Stevie, you’re down to 20 seconds… Zazu and Hyena fan: Not a or c Well, no 50:50, but you can double dip here which would essentially be a 50:50, since you’d get two chances to answer, and you have your time extension. Audra: Doesn't she have phone a friend too? Ahh yes, Audra’s on the ball! Thanks – you can phone someone as well. Zazu and Hyena fan: phone a friend Hmm… interesting choice! STM, are you there? simbathemighty: oh wow... Haha… someone’s a little surprised to get called on! Well, STM, Stevie needs your help here, going for $64,000, you will have 30 seconds and your time starts now! <cue tick-tock SFX> $64,000 A: Ellen Woodbury and Rowan Atkinson simbathemighty: I'm quite positive it's B Time’s up. Wow, well STM seemed to go against you there, he’s quite certain it’s B, while you seem to think Tony did Mufasa, which would be D. I’ll give you 30 seconds to try sort out this mess! <pause> Zazu and Hyena fan: b Going to trust STM and his answer. Final? Zazu and Hyena fan: Yes. <lock-in B: Mark Henn and Jonathan Taylor Thomas> <drumroll, Stevie’s looking nervous…>
No… you should have stayed with your first instinct Stevie! Tony did draw Mufasa. It was…
Randy Reighard: awwwww I’m afraid STM steered you in the wrong direction there Stevie, sorry about that… but it happens. simbathemighty: sorry But if it’s any consolation to you, your $32,000 has brought you up into the lead with $314,000, you’ve eclipsed the $300,000 mark! Congratulations Stevie! Zazu and Hyena fan: Yay!!! <cut> STM has helped numerous contestants ever since season 1 but unfortunately he couldn’t come through here, but it was a very tough question unless you’re familiar with the animators. We had a little time left, so we looked for one more player, and Adam won the Fastest Finger! He was having a breakout week on our show, winning $32,000 yesterday and making another Hot Seat appearance today. He absolutely nailed the $32,000 again without even giving it second thought and was soon going for some really big money. Would this stay in the Hot Seat be even more lucrative? $64,000 A: Best Performance by Featured Actor This Land Neale: think its c Pretty sure it’s C, Choreography… Allright then. Final? This Land Neale: phone friend Ahh, choosing to play it cautiously yet again. Who would you like to call? This Land Neale: Tim Watanbe <audience laughs> I don’t think he’s available! Anyone else? This Land Neale: Audra Ahh, probably the second best choice for this one. Audra? Audra: yes Adam needs your help on this TLKOB question, which of those awards did TLKOB win? 30 seconds starting now! <cue tick-tock SFX> $64,000 A: Best Performance by Featured Actor Audra: I think it's C too, but I'm not 100% sure <buzz-buzz> Well, she’s pretty sure it’s C as well… going to trust her? This Land Neale: dd <audience is surprised> Wow, playing REALLY careful now! Double Dip is in action.
<cue DD think music> <lock-in C: Best Choreography> You know right when the question came up Adam, you said C… and then you used two lifelines… <drumroll… close up of Adam looking quite constipated> Adam – I’m sorry to say… You didn’t need to use those lifelines!!!!
You just won $64,000!!!!! <roaring applause, cheers> This Land Neale: yay Definitely, remember to always use protection! <audience laughs> Audra: lol Jokes aside, you know you’re only FOUR away from the million and you still have your poll the herd! Let’s play! <cue let’s play for $125,000 $125,000 A: 1999 This Land Neale: poll the herd A: 22% B: 22% C: 11% D: 33% <audience awws> This Land Neale: ouch >< Wow, very spread out, with 1995 getting a very slight majority. Tough situation here, all you have left now is your time extension, and of course you can walk right now with the $64,000. This Land Neale: hmm >< You got it, 45 seconds from now to answer. <long pause> This Land Neale: i so want that money That’s the name of the game! But you were playing so cautious on the last question, I bet you wish you saved some of those lifelines. This Land Neale: Im gonna risk it tim <audience cheers> This Land Neale: D Ok then, D: 1995. Wow this is it, Adam… say the magic word: This Land Neale: final <lock in D: 1995> <D: 1995> He GOT IT! ONE-HUNDRED-TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND!!!! WOW!!!! <audience is in a frenzy> Audra: Yay I'm glad you guessed that. I saw that show
in 1995. <fog horn siren> This Land Neale: awww >< Oh no, I can’t believe it! Not now! Can’t we do one more? <fog horn siren> Well it’s going to be quite a cliffhanger! Adam will be joining us on the next game which will be April 12th and 13th going for $250,000! That is a show not to be missed. But for now let’s congratulation ALL of our winners for Week 7: Tara (King Simba), who won $1,000 on yesterday’s
show <applause> and our big winner this week… Adam Neale (This Land) who won $32,000 yesterday and has guaranteed himself another $32,000 today but will be going for $250,000 on the next show he is able to attend, only THREE away from the million <deafening applause, cheers> Wow, what a week we had! Until next time April 12th and 13th, this is your host Tim Watanabe saying thanks so much for joining us here for Who Wants to be King of the Pride Lands and see everyone, especially you, Adam, in two weeks! And thanks to Yahoo! for sponsoring our game as well. Good bye! <waves with Adam as theme music plays>
1st: Stevie Rader (Zazu & Hyena Fan), $314,000 (3) *Including guaranteed $32,000, may increase on next show |
